The programs of the St. Bartholomew children's Christian education program are designed to help kids meet God, and to love, know and live out his presence in their lives as they grow.
Nursery
Nursery services are available from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. for infants and children from birth through age 4 at the end of the south hallway of the building. In the nursery, children have the opportunity as they grow to become aware of God and spiritual topics through relevant toys, puzzles, and books.
Children's Christian Formation - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)?
Throughout its 50-year development, the presentations in CGS were modified or discarded if they failed to elicit joy from the children. In this way, children themselves formed the program. The presentations come directly from the Bible and liturgy. They become more complex and unified as the children mature. Adults working as catechists listen to God with the children as opposed to interpreting God for the children. Catechists receive thorough training to help them achieve this goal with each presentation.
Middle School "Connections" is our Sunday Christian Education class for 6th-8th grade, meeting from 9:30-10:50. The format is not Catechesis of the Good Shepherd but does follow the philosophy of offering age-appropriate, child-centered studies and enrichment activities. This class builds an essential bridge between the lower level classes and the high school Youth Group by making connections from the concrete to the abstract and looking at how we fit into the big picture of God's plan for us.
