The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Minimize

The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Wednesday, January 18, and continues through Tuesday, January 25. The theme for 2012 is "We Will All Be Changed by the Victory of Our Lord Jesus Christ." (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:51-58)

Use the Daily Scripture and Prayer Guide to join with Christians around the world praying "that all may be one... that the world may believe" (John 17:21).

The Daily Scripture guide can be found at our websiteIf you would like a printout, please contact the parish office at 262-691-0836.

The Church Unity Octave was first observed in January, 1908. Celebrated in the chapel of a small Atonement Franciscan Convent of the Protestant Episcopal Church, on a remote hillside fifty miles from New York City, this new prayer movement caught the imagination of others beyond the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Atonement to become an energetic movement that gradually blossomed into a worldwide observance involving many nations and millions of people. Since 1968, the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity have collaborated annually in selecting scriptural themes and helpful materials to promote prayer for the unity of the Christian Churches. As a worldwide observance seeking “unity in diversity” (words taken from the Preface of the Mass for Christian Unity), the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity focuses upon the shared yearnings of all Christians “that all may be one” (Jn. 17:21) according to the will of Christ.
